Letter from Our Director
I am thrilled to be stepping into this new position as director and owner of this wonderful ballet school. I am grateful that Julianne asked me to take over and I am excited to guide it to the next level of success. I know we all wish her the best as she figures out her own next steps.
I believe so much in its mission: to be a school for all students who love to dance. My goal is to continue the high-quality ballet instruction by keeping classes small and providing as many performance opportunities as possible in a nurturing environment. I want these children to leave the school not only with an excellent discipline in ballet but also with a passion and love for this beautiful art form that can be a part of their lives and others forever.
The opportunity has arisen to convert the Gyrotonics Studio into a ballet studio. Having a fourth studio will give us options for more supplemental classes such as Pilates and conditioning, and we will be able to expand the school while still being able to keep our class sizes small. I am excited that Pilates classes will become an additional regular part of the curriculum for Levels 4 and up.
Our faculty will stay the same with Samantha and myself being head teachers. The fantastic Julia Adam will be increasing her hours working with Level 6 and has agreed to become our Resident Choreographer. Ben Warner will continue teaching the Boys Program and we will be expanding their classes. Our two lovely alumni, Kyla Marcus and Katie Choi, will continue teaching as much as their professional dancers lives allow and Jennifer Polyocan will be joining us to teach some of the Rec classes. I’m thrilled that Joseph Walsh and Lauren Strongin have expressed a desire to continue working with our students and I will be announcing other exciting guest teachers in the near future.
Finally, I am incredibly excited to announce that I am in discussion with Julia Adam to create a new ballet of Alice in Wonderland for our school. This will be a huge undertaking, but I believe that if we can commit and work together as a community, we will be able to make a truly wonderful work which will enrich our students’ lives. I am grateful to the DTC Foundation, and all of you who contribute. Your future support will be integral in allowing us to create these experiences for the students.
I want to thank each of you in advance, for your trust in me and the school. I look forward to us building on Julianne’s foundation with your help and support.
