Freedom to dance several hours per day for several weeks of the summer sounds like heaven to most ballet students! But those long hours can be challenging and lead to injury and frustration for the young dancer who is not prepared for such intensive study. ASP was developed to prevent injury and prepare more advanced students for their intensives, sending them off mentally and physically ready to make the most of their summer programs. Consisting of 3 hours of training (9:30am-12:30pm), each day of ASP includes, technique class and pointe work and variations and repertoire.
The Ballet School of San Francisco Summer Intensive
Ages 5-7
A wonderful way to either introduce your child to ballet, or to enhance their love and understanding. Our half-day camp is perfect for students ages 5-7, with little to no experience. Classes run from 9am-12pm, Monday-Friday. Classes include conditioning and Pilates exercises, stretching, ballet technique and classical ballet story telling for young dancers.
The goal is JOY in movement and RIGOR in training. We strongly recommend 2 weeks of study.

For students in this age range, 7-9 or 9-12, the Intensive classes are crafted with the intention of advancing the skills, strength, and confidence of the young dancer who is ready to hone their technique and artistry. We strongly advise 3-4 weeks of study to complement students’ year-long syllabus.
Summer courses include conditioning and Pilates exercises, technique, and pointe/pre-pointe daily; other courses include variations, contemporary, Progressing Ballet Technique and character dancing.
Unlike some other ballet schools’ summer programs, technique and pre-pointe and pointe classes, teachers will stay the same the throughout the summer in order for the students to benefit from consistency in training. All other classes will alternate guest teachers.
